According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, obesity is common, serious and costly, affecting more than one-third of all U.S. adults. Obesity-related conditions are some of the leading causes of preventable death, including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. The link between diet, obesity and chronic disease has long been recognized, making nutrition and weight management critical for good health.
