Providers at our HHC-Lakeview clinic, in a new larger space downstairs from the former pediatric center, now sees both children and adults.
Our expanded Heartland Health Centers-Lakeview clinic has been welcoming adults as well as children since the start of April.
Known for its robust pediatric services, HHC-Lakeview has been open for adults for just a few weeks, but it’s already busy, says Tania Hossain, MD, clinical site leader for HHC-Lakeview. “Normally when you open a new clinic it’s slow,” Hossain says. “But our first day here was packed–we had a great, busy start in a brand new space.”
HHC-Lakeview is one of Heartland Health Centers’ 7 community clinics, 7 school-based health centers, and 3 integrated-care centers in community mental health clinics across the North and Northwest sides of Chicago and in Skokie that provide high-quality healthcare to all.
The combined adult and pediatric primary-care center is on the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center campus. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, and 8:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Saturday hours are planned in the future. To schedule an appointment, call 773-751-7800, or call the clinic directly at 773-296-7580. Validated parking is available for patients in the adjacent garage; the clinic is also convenient to the CTA Red and Brown lines.
The central location and easy access are convenient for many families and individuals, Hossain says – especially those who come from further away to access quality care covered by Medicaid or other insurance plans or, for those who are uninsured, available for a sliding-scale fee.
With 6 exam rooms and 2 rooms to check vitals, the new clinic has expanded capacity, Hossain says. There is also expanded common area, including a small meeting room where the plan is to add a nutrition class for patients and the community.
Adding capacity means the clinic will see more children as well as being able to care for adults. Joining Hossain at the site are Family Nurse Practitioner Sandra Manogura and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Peggy Cushing. Pediatrician Shaheena Ahmed and Sarah Johnson, a board-certified family physician, split time between HHC-Lakeview and other Heartland Health Centers clinics.
Johnson says serving everyone under one roof is nothing new for her: it’s not uncommon for her to see three generations of the same family: kids, parents, and grandparents. “I’ve been seeing everybody here, babies to adults,” she adds. “I love seeing whole families.”
